Cardiff University Men’s Rugby Club can confirm that, with immediate effect, Nick Fish will step down from his role as Forwards and Defence Coach.

Nick has made a valued contribution to the programme during his time with the club, and we would like to place on record our sincere thanks for his commitment, professionalism and service. Everyone at the club wishes him the very best for the future.

We are also pleased to announce that Duane Goodfield has been appointed Forwards Coach with immediate effect.

Background – Duane Goodfield

Duane Goodfield is a former professional Welsh hooker with extensive experience in the Welsh Premiership and regional rugby. He represented Pontypridd and Cardiff at club level and later played regional rugby with the Dragons before retiring through injury.

At international level, Duane earned age-grade honours for Wales and has previously captained at under-21 level.

Since retiring from playing, Duane has built an outstanding coaching career spanning over 20 years within the professional and academy game. His previous roles include Welsh Rugby Union development positions and senior coaching roles within the Cardiff academy and professional pathway.

Duane brings a wealth of knowledge in set-piece, contact, and forward play, alongside strong leadership and player-development expertise, and will add significant value to the club’s on-field programme and performance environment.
