Over 10,000 students get front row seats to watch the future stars of international rugby do battle to bring home the Varsity cup. Players have gone on to play for the Cardiff Blues, Ospreys, Llanelli Scarlets and even internationally for Wales.

The Welsh Varsity is one of the most fiercely contested university sporting rivalries in the United Kingdom. First played in 1997, the annual clash between Cardiff University and Swansea University has grown from a traditional student fixture into one of the largest university rugby events in Europe, regularly attracting thousands of people and serving as the showpiece event of the wider Welsh Varsity sports programme.
